This goofy old game can help a little with adding fractions. Whole was originally made by Noam Davidovics and Daniel R. Wallace. It is a great game for number play. You can slide any piece directly up, down, left, or right, as long as the total is not greater than 1. The new total will be formed. If it is a whole 1, you get a point. It works best on a larger screen, we are working on getting an updated version made.

Circling the Tangent
Circling the Tangent is a lesson for students in a high school level calculus course or precalculus class. TSW learn and write the equations for circles. TSW solve equations to find values from inputs. TSW define tangent and normal lines. TSW use definitions of tangents and normals with the circle equation to create a unique artwork. Instructions. Students will write 5 equations. Each for a circle with a radius of 8 units. The centers are the origin and then in each quadrant such that four circles are tangent to both…

We had the chance to sit down with Memphis City Councilman, Dr. Jeff Warren, and listen to him talk about what people should be doing in regards to health and this virus. If you listen, Dr. Warren gives a nice explanation of exponential growth. This circumstance is very much at the intersection of math and science. Below are some resources on that aspect. Learning to count in a number base is the strangest concept at first for most. We associate the one we first learn with everything. Below is a…

Ratatouille totally makes for a more fun time talking about these basic identifiers of sets. Intersections and Unions trip most everyone up somewhere along the line. https://www.mathsisfun.com/sets/venn-diagrams.html is a great set of notes to go along with the video. The three basic logic gates in this game are And, Or, and Not. For And to be true, both things must be. For Or to be True, only one must. Not asks for the other. Thanks to msarica for the original project Logic Gates Game. Binary is the way computers count because switches are…

We discuss a fun math problem and look at circles. There is some other stuff in there. For those working on circles and circumferences, radius, and pi type things, this little problem is quite an excellent study to the primary things one needs to know, so they say. Needless to say, there is more to that path of maths at algebrawesome.
